Bipul is a singer/songwriter from Kalimpong, Darjeeling, based in New Delhi.

 Taking inspiration from the folk sounds of the Himalayas, his music is reminiscent of tunes and melodies long forgotten in the space of time. His melodies are rooted in the Himalayas and his lyrics are often inspired by the beauty of nature and life as such.

 In the beginning of 2013, a song spread across the Internet like wildfire. Not surprisingly, it was titled ‘Wildfire/Dadhelo’. The response from the listeners and the rate at which the song ended up on everyone’s playlist laid the foundation for the EP “Sketches of Darjeeling’, released in July 2014.

Recorded between 2013-14, the album is a collection of songs inspired by life around the hills of Darjeeling, a small town that sits on the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. Harmonically blending Nepali folk music with contemporary western musical elements, the songs have the rare quality of touching the pahari heart and transporting the listener to the land where the songs were born.

Maya, his second offering is a collection of songs and compositions that could only have come from a soul that is always roaming the hills of Darjeeling was released in June 2016.

“Maya”, as the name suggests, is about love. Love found, love lost, love given, love reciprocated, love imagined and, always, that love for the hills Bipul calls home. He has subsequently released 6 more singles, Gahiro Gahiro, Basant, Aashish and Teesta, Mughlan, Neela Akash, Salala and Bahra Mahina.
